We at Ocean Sports Dive Shop are so excited to bring this opportunity to all of our divers, SCUBA and Freediving alike! We can't say enough good things about this world renown,Freedivng Spearfisherman, Dan Silveira who constantly challenges himself with making more and more records every year. He's the youngest diver to ever win the Pacific Coast Championships four times in a row! So to say the least, we're incredibly excited for Dan to come down to our shop and teach eight (lucky!) students the Level 1 Freediving Course. Upon completion each student will each receive an official c-card and course certificate through F.I.I. (Freediving Instructors International), USA's #1 Freediving Education Program. We have very limited space with only alternate spots left, so put down your deposits as soon as you can!

And to further everyone's experience and enjoyment of this opportunity we are becoming dealers of the amazing international freediving gear OMER. Now don't just take our words on how advanced their freediving and spearfishing products are, but definitely take Dan Silveira's word for it. GREEN Abalone SHELL for St. Patrick's DAY

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!! Here's a little GREEN (polished & dyed) Abalone perfect for today. But ONLY take RED Abalone during the season that opens on APRIL 1st!! We are all getting excited for the start of Ab season so as the VERY Responsible Dive Shop we are I'm going to list the basic rules & regulations for you all :) 

1) Abalone may be taken by FREEDIVERS ONLY (no SCUBA), North of San Francisco Bay.

2) No more than 3 RED Abalone may be possessed by one person at any time!!
3) Abalone must measure 7 inches or greater along the longest shell diameter. And every person while taking Abalone must carry an Ab gauge that accurately measures 7 in.

4) The season is OPEN during the months of April, May, June, AUGUST, September, October, and November from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.

5) If freediving for the abs you need to have BOTH a Fishing License AND an Abalone Report Punch Card and TAG your abs immediately upon returning to your boat or shore!!

Shaun and I were just talking yesterday at the shop about posting something to get you all excited about this upcoming Ab Diving season opening April 1st, 2011. Well since neither of us has been yet and do not have our own footage we found this little jem on You Tube created by an amazing freediver & spearfisherman we used to rent kayaks to at Two Harbors, Catalina Island. Check out the unbelievable amount of abs he found on one dive! Great job Dan! Amazing stuff!!!
